about GARY JOSEPHSON
Gary Josephson has spent more than 30 years developing and refining clinical hypnosis into a structured, teachable, and reliably effective system. His work is grounded in the conviction that lasting behavioral change is achievable — and that the methods that produce it can be taught with precision and delivered with integrity.
He trained in both of the primary traditions of professional hypnotherapy — the direct, authoritative approach of Gil Boyne and the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners, where he first certified in 1993, and the Ericksonian indirect tradition under Randal Churchill at the Hypnotherapy Training Institute, where he completed his Certified Clinical Master Hypnotherapist designation in 2010. In September 2020 he completed DBT certification training under Marsha Linehan, creator of Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
That dual foundation — direct and indirect, behavioral and analytical — runs through everything Whole Health Consulting teaches. Students learn to think across traditions rather than within them, applying whatever the client needs rather than whatever the practitioner prefers.

From Practice to System
Ten years ago Gary brought his clinical practice to Uruguay, working alongside psychologists and mental health professionals in real clinical settings. The collaboration was productive — but it also surfaced a question that changed the direction of his work.
A Uruguayan psychologist, observing that Gary's clients were achieving lasting results more quickly than expected, asked whether hypnosis could be structured to help therapists produce that kind of change within the constraints of limited session coverage. That question became the clinical challenge that gave rise to Compounded Hypnotic Technique.
Eight years ago Gary opened a clinical hypnotherapy school in Uruguay under the Whole Health Consulting name — training licensed Uruguayan mental health professionals in structured clinical hypnosis application. That experience of teaching, refining, and watching practitioners apply these methods in real clinical settings shaped everything about how Whole Health Clinical Hypnosis Training is designed and delivered today.
gary’s APPROACH
Gary’s approach is grounded in the belief that the mind can be a powerful ally in health and wellbeing. I believe in the profound connection between mind and body and utilize a combination of techniques drawn from the applications of Clinical Hypnosis within the framework of Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Analytical Hypnotherapy, and Ego State Therapy to facilitate behavioral change, manage several types of pain, and support the body and mind's capacity for wellbeing.
By working together we will access your subconscious to reshape habits, alter pain perception, and support your body and mind's health and recovery.
My practice offers a compassionate and personalized space ensuring your comfort and aligning with your goals — empowering you to achieve a life filled with harmony, vitality, and joy.
What Gary Teaches
Whole Health Clinical Hypnosis Training is a three-level certification program designed for licensed professionals adding clinical hypnosis to an existing practice. It is vocabulary-intensive, application-based, and built around developing clinical judgment — not technique collection.
Compounded Hypnotic Technique (CHT)
A structured, real-time responsive approach to clinical hypnosis in which multiple techniques are integrated within a single continuous session based on the client's moment-to-moment responses. CHT produces deeper, more integrated change in significantly less time — without scripts, without mechanical protocol, and without losing clinical structure.
Shadow Work — Whole Health Consulting
A five-phase clinical system for identifying and updating protective behavioral patterns operating outside conscious awareness. Shadow Work applies hypnotic processes to support awareness and integration of protective patterns — safely, sequentially, and within regulated clinical conditions.

Gary's approach is grounded in the belief that the most important thing a practitioner develops is not a larger collection of techniques — it is the judgment to know which tool to use, when to use it, and when to do nothing at all.
